Leave your pets & your home in good hands
Pet Sitting
I'm Susan Larson. I am the primary caregiver for your pets at Fort Collins Pet Sitting. My husband, Derek provides secondary, backup care. We've cared for our own cats and dogs and horse their entire lives. And I have experience working at a barn caring for more than a dozen horses.
We're both available every day. So you can rest assured your pets and your home are well cared for while you're away.
I will come by in advance to walk through everything with you and get familiar with where everything is and the particulars of your home and your pet's needs.

Pet and Home Care
"Susan and Derek were the perfect Petsitters for our senior dog Jordan. We had to leave on a last minute week long trip and they didn’t hesitate to take care of him. He required a lot of extra care (going outside a lot!) and medicine but we knew he was in safe and loving hands.
We can’t recommend them enough. "

I want you to come home to happy pets and a happy, tidy home. I won't leave stuff in your fridge, fill up your trash bins, or leave any trace that I was there.
When you get home, your house will be like you left it.
If your home, yard, or pets require extra special attention, let me know. We can provide additional home and pet care for an extra fee on a case by case basis.

What Else?
I know traveling and leaving your pets at home can be stressful, even when you're leaving for vacation. My schedule is flexible and I can arrive early or later in the day to accommodate your travel plans.
And I know sometimes we need to travel last minute and when emergencies happen. I'm here to help take the worry out of leaving your pets at home when other things are going wrong.
Because Derek and I are both here to back each other up, and because we have a lifetime of experience caring for our own pets at every stage of life, you know that we have the experience and empathy to take care of your animals and ensure their wellbeing while you're away. We love our animals. We'll love yours too.
The basics...
My expectation, when I arrive to care for your animals, is that your home is in generally good working order, that you'll disclose any security cameras in use, that you'll provide keys or access codes I'll need, that everything I need to take care of your pets is available, and that there are clean linens on the bed I'll be sleeping in.

Things to consider when leaving your pets at home
Let your veterinarian know you'll be away and give them your pet-sitters name so there won't be any unnecessary barriers to care in case of an emergency. Make sure your pet sitter has your vet's info.
Let your neighbors know that your pet sitter is staying at the house so they aren't concerned or suspicious.
Come home to a clean shiny doggo! Make an appointment at the groomer for the day before you get home. Don't forget to give them your pet sitters name so they know it is okay to release your dog to them after their bath!
Make sure you've got plenty of your pet's favorite treats and toys on hand.
Double check prescriptions and make sure there are enough medications to last until you return.
Let your pet sitter know about any of your pet's weird habits or behaviors, that might cause concern. You know your little weirdos better than anyone.
Be very clear and direct about your expectations for updates while you're away. For instance, I will always send daily updates with photos because that's what I prefer when I leave my pets with someone. It isn't something that everyone does.
Be very clear and direct about your expectations for your home. I will never have other people in your home when I'm there, because that's my expectation for my own home. But that's not a norm everyone necessarily follows.
Write things down. It might seem silly, or like overkill, to leave an entire page - or even two - of instructions. It isn't. It is really is just a way to avoid any misunderstandings or confusion, and to make sure your pets get the best possible care.
